Rare Stereo Cabinet inspired by JBL Paragon d44000 OUTSIDE GREATER TORONTO AREA, Toronto in Windsor, Ontario for sale

In 1957, JB Lansing introduced the Paragon d44000 speaker system. The Paragon was the flagship speaker system of the 1960?s, with only an estimated 1000 units produced. Each system was hand made, with a highly polished finish.

In the early 60?s, Charles Hamlin, a Master Carpenter located in southern Ontario, was commissioned to build a stereo cabinet with the same look and feel as the Paragon, but customized to support stereo components within the cabinet, and with a more traditional speaker design at each end. Hamlin hand built this unique cabinet using solid and veneer woodstock (primarily walnut), with a highly polished hand rubbed finish.
The cabinet was designed to support two sealed speaker systems, one at each end. Originally outfitted with a multi-driver Wharfdale speaker system, the speakers have been removed from the cabinet as the original drivers have deteriorated over time. New speakers of your choice can be installed, or the cabinets can be used to house subwoofers in a multiple-speaker arrangement.
The large curved doors swing open smoothly on hidden SOSS hinges, revealing two openings for stereo system components. Originally outfitted with a tube amplifier and a tube tuner, these components have also been removed. All components are accessible from the rear of the unit, including a "hidden" third component area in the middle of the exposed two. A pull-down door on the lower left reveals a slide-out record shelf, and on the lower right is another pull-out drawer supporting a turntable.
This is a one-of-a-kind antique cabinet, and is being sold by the original owner who commissioned the build and is located in Windsor Ontario.
